Intradermal Nodular Fasciitis: A Case Report

چکیده
Nodular fasciitis is a reactive myofibroblastic proliferative lesion frequently misdiagnosed as a sarcoma. Most lesions are located in the subcutaneous tissue of the upper extremities. Rarely, intravascular, intradermal, and cranial variants have been described. Intradermal nodular fasciitis, first reported by Goodlad and Fletcher in 1990, may be confused with fibrohistiocytic tumors because of the unexpected location. A 32-year-old male had a rapidly growing tender nodule in the occipital region of the scalp for one month. Histopathology revealed an ill-defined dermal nodule composed of interwining fascicles of spindle cells in a loose myxoid stroma with focal hemorrhage. The diagnosis was intradermal nodular fasciitis. Because of the possibility of cranial fasciitis, skull films were obtained to evaluate for possible bony involvment, but no lesion was identified. Although the deep surgical margin contained tumor spindle cells, MRI showed only a linear low intensity signal suggestive of scar. We report a case of intradermal nodular fasciitis and discuss the clinical, pathologic and radiographic findings.(Dermatol Sinica 23: 212-216, 2005)

Nodular Fasciitis of the Auricle: A Case Report
Introduction: Nodular fasciitis is described as a benign reactive proliferation of myofibroblasts. Due to its rapid-growing nature, a precise clinical diagnosis is difficult and the condition is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant lesions. Case Report: In this study, we present the case of a young woman with an auricular nodular fasciitis as an example of one of the rarest sites of this tumo...

PURPOSE To report a case of epibulbar nodular fasciitis in a 32-year-old female and provide context by reviewing the current literature. RESULTS Using excisional biopsy, the patient was successfully diagnosed and treated for epibulbar nodular fasciitis. Upon follow-up, there has been no recurrence, consistent with the typical course for nodular fasciitis. CONCLUSIONS Epibulbar nodular fasci...

متن کاملNodular fasciitis causing unilateral proptosis.
A case report of an unusual case of nodular fasciitis in the orbit presenting with unilateral proptosis is described, and the radiological features are outlined. The histological features are discussed and the benign nature of the lesion stressed. Nodular fasciitis arising in the orbit and presenting as unilateral proptosis has not previously been reported in the literature.
